Soar Zine
Stories of the Unforgotten
Context & Inspiration
Origin story: The project was inspired by a news article about Amelia Earhart. Her story (her pioneering spirit, breaking boundaries, disappearing legacy) sparked the idea.
Goal: To create a series celebrating never-forgotten heroes, people like Earhart who pushed limits, challenged norms, and left a lasting impact even when fully recognized or remembered.
Medium: A zine (short for magazine) editorial design + content, presumably combining visuals, text, maybe illustrations or photography, as a way to tell or reinterpret hero stories.
Purpose
To revive or re-tell stories of heroes in a fresh, engaging way.
To create something tangible, shareable, that inspires.
To explore themes of courage, exploration, loss / absence, memory, perhaps identity.
Why It Matters
It goes beyond the obvious heroes: not just about fame, but about memory, absence, how history shapes who we honor.
Gives space for reflection: what stories get told, and what stories are forgotten?
Promotes critical thinking: who we choose as heroes and why, and the power of remembering.
